POD #10

Pain Management Day

Today brought a consult from the pain management team (anesthesia team). Pain comes in many forms, some stronger and more painful in so many different ways both emotionally and physically. Musculoskeletal back pain was the emotional and physical breaking point today for Michael. The day was extremely long and painful for Michael but things have calmed down this evening. We have a pain management plan in place for now and the future. Bowels are less swollen and discharge home is in the near future however it won't be long and we will be back out here to have a second go at the new liver metastasis that was found.

No one can say it better than Patrick, "Keep fighting...... never let your guard down.... cancer likes to sneak up on you.......until you whip it". Spoken like a true survivor.

As also said today "time to dig deep!"

Until tomorrow,
Dawn & Kids

many are praying and we all know that God can help you conquer this and provide healing. You both have the strength and stamina to get through this especially with your support system and your faith. Hang in there and as Dawn so aptly said, "Dig deep" God will provide you with what you need. As always, you are in my thoughts.

I know this is a tough battle Michael, but keep on fighting - pull from all the strength and support you have out there with you at Mayo's and all the support shown to you on line. Many are praying for you. You will be back at home soon - I know you are looking forward to a good nights sleep in your own bed! Stay strong.
Love Karen and your UP Family.

Mike and Dawn,

Just keep grinding it out. You can and will do this. Every day is another day closer to discharge and closer to getting back home. Mike, you are really really lucky to have an advocate there who's a doctor. Get the pain under control. We'll make sure the nice weather sticks around for your return.

Hey Mike. There seems to be a reoccuring theme in weather so heres my forecast: Just remember that it takes both rain and sun to make a rainbow, so while you are now in the midst of a torrential downpour- the sun is right around the corner with the biggest and brightest rainbow that heaven can provide. Keep the faith and take good care. Thinking of and praying for you all- Joanie

Dawn and Michael,

I know you haven't had a chance to think this far ahead yet (one day at a time is the only way to go), but if anyone is organizing dinner service for you guys once you get home, please be sure to include us. We are more than willing to do dinners and anything else you guys might need once you're home and back in your own comfortable beds.
