POD #1 (Post-operative day #1)

Today started out a little groggy for Michael due to all the pain medicines but by evening he was able to talk to the kids a little. The ng (naso-gastric) tube is out, 7 more tubes and lines to go. Michael was a little to lightheaded to get out of bed, but did manage to brush his teeth twice today. Hopefully, he will be up in a chair tomorrow. The kids are doing great, they are full of energy and are good for about 14 hours going at 50mph before they start to shut down. Just dragged them out of the pool now for a good nights sleep. It only takes seeing their dad for a minute to reassure them that dad is ok. Hopefully a few more days and Michael will be able to read the blog for the first time.

Love Dawn & kids

Michael, I hope your reading this sooner than later. I don't want anymore "Houston, we have a problem" calls from you. As you can see, the shuttle is behaving since I've been awaiting an update all night again. Go slow and enjoy the down time :)Talk with you soon. Bobby

Michael, Dawn and Kids, waited with baited breath for an update. Soooooo glad everything is at least progressing. I can't even imagine the discomfort you must feel but I know, once again, your positive attitude will help you get through all of this. At least I know you are keeping those "pearly whites" in great shape. I will continue to pray for you and keep you in my thoughts. I eagerly await updates. Thank you, Dawn, for that. Take care, Jan

Glad to hear you're awake and on your way to the chair. What progress ! Take it easy though. The girls keep asking when you are coming home. (I'm sure they are missing the Vinecki Kids by that ) I am pulling for you and hoping to see you soon. Rest easy.
Dawn- you are doing great hanging in there. It must be tough but that is your strong suit. Don't let those kids run you down. Talk to you soon I hope.
Love, Tanya

Mike,

See! That was not so bad. LOL!

We are all looking forward to hearing from you. In fact, some of us would prefer that you write something while you are all 'drugged up' over there.

Let him do it Dawn. LOL!!

The summer conference will definately not be the same without you. I was hoping to get some golfing tips from you this time around. Nevertheless, we'll all be thinking and sending prayers out your way for a super speedy recovery.

We're all on your team big guy so keep up the competitive spirit as you're already making the come back.

Your Pal,

Glad to hear/read how successful the surgery was! Mayo is an amazing place...a place of hope. I am sure one look at your 4 amazing kids is all the motivation Michael needs to continue this journey of recovery. I think of you all and pray for you all daily. May you find peace in knowing God is in control and this is part of His master plan. I know your family has a great attitude and attitude oftentimes is the difference maker! Keep smiling and moving forward one day at a time. Looking forward to the homecoming. God Bless!

I'm sure the kids have enough energy for all of us a thousand times over. Too bad they can't "send" that to us, hey? But, as I said before, You are so strong that you'll prevail. I know it. Can't wait to hear more good news.

Mikey:

You are my brother. I feel every bit happiness, pain, and sorrow with you. You are the strongest man I've ever known in my whole life, so I know this is just a bump in the road for you. The key to life is not what you can accomplish, It's what you can overcome. i know that you will take these words and use them well, so you, me and Rick, and Dad will be Deer Hunting again soon!!!

Stay Strong and I will see you soon
